People these days are more interested in 

• Leaders behavior in public like washing kids butts or naming kids, etc. Rather they should, listen to the message of leaders, interpret and check if they are fraud or genuine and decide if they want to vote or not.
• Spelling mistakes/typos or fumbles during speeches and highlight them and people laugh about them. If they give a speech, they will understand that its not easy. 
• Misinformation regarding an incident. No one validates the truth. People only see viral content. By the time truth comes out, damage is done.
• When someone questions a leader on something, their reply is "what has previous govt done" and similar lines.
• Politicians personal lives and throwing mud on them or try to create controversy around that.

People should vote for the person who will be best for themselves (How the govt will effect them rather than caste) and then the state.  

Unfortunately most politicians are like this. Its like we vote for who is "Less worst".
