Nothing wrong in what they are doing. 

However, if they look back and see its not big money and how many times they wasted $15 on so many useless things. Its a good gesture to just give it to free to your neighbors or donate them to a food bank (Not sure if they take opened groceries). Or just leave them in a box in your apartment complex Mailbox. Someone will take it.
