First and foremost - woke up with alarm and went at 7 am to vote for the return of the dictatorship.

As some one in 40s and living in Bangalore for almost 2 decades. In my 20s, never bothered to vote (feeling ashamed of that now). Born in a congress supporter family of kerala - grandmother used to vote for "Hand" symbol. She used to tell us - RSS/BJP is communal and she believed that as well. And we are a brahmin family. Dad was having socialist thinking I guess. But i remember we both sitting in front of tv and watching the debate of Vaypayee's 13 days govt falling. From late 90s to 2014, I believe my life was going through , lost mom and other issues. I never knew my mom's political affiliations.

Then NAMO happened - I was a lost person in my personal space and suddenly from some where I started supporting modi ji with what ever social media we had in 2013 / 2014. Even though I was supporting Namo, I have never abandoned the secularism which my Keralite up bringing has instilled in me. Then Sabarimala happened in 2018 , i was a vehement supporter of the movement. My relatives, including my sister called me "Sang***"; my classmate who is a christian expressed the feeling what made me to become communal. I started wondering ; if people are thinking me as a sa**** and communal just because I support hinduism and be proud of being a hindu - So be it. 2018 was the time I abandoned secularism once for all.. NAMO changed my thought process - it happened slowly but in a steady way.

So are there any Malayalis here who went out of clutches of communist thinking and reached the nationalist mind set?

Note : My relatives back in Kerala are predominantly still commie sympathisers . Even my sister who called me a san*** still the same. Few weeks back I had a fight with her on her refusal to caste her vote. She declared she would not vote because she does not like any parties.
