Why did Jagan take break in campaign midway?

CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy took a break for a day amidst his hectic election campaign on Friday, before resuming it on Saturday.

The break, which was taken just eight days ahead of the closure of election campaign, was a surprise to many, who were wondering whether Jagan was very much tired due to sweltering heat and wanted to take rest for a day.

But according to the YSRCP sources, Jagan spent the whole day holding emergency meeting with party seniors, members of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) and officials close to him.

The issues discussed at the meetings were forwarded to the party wings at various levels in the districts with suggestions on what to do in the next one week.

According to the intelligence reports and I-PAC team feedback, the YSRC is facing a tough time in at least 50 constituencies.

Jagan is learnt to have decided to spend special observers to these seats, give instructions to the local party leaders to see that the party should win these at any cost, even if they require additional expenditure. Jagan might also hold meetings in some of these constituencies in the next one week.

The party is learnt to have got the reports that there are certain pockets in Kadapa districts where the YSRCP might lose, including Kadapa assembly seat.

Jagan wants the party leaders to focus on them and asked them to give him update on a day-to-day basis.

The chief minister has instructed the officials and senior party leaders to take all steps to see that there is no damage to the party due to the Land Titling Act, against which the opposition parties are campaigning extensively.

Jagan also asked his party social media teams and the network of volunteers and party workers to intensify campaign against Chandrababu Naidu saying he won’t implement his manifesto; that it is full of lies; that all the welfare schemes would be removed if he comes to power and door-to-door pension delivery will come to a halt.

“The campaign should be focused in villages and weaker section colonies where there are large number of beneficiaries of welfare schemes. In the next eight days, this anti-Naidu campaign should be launched in a big way,” he is learnt to have asked the party leaders.

There are bright chances of the NDA winning seats like Addanki, Parchuru, Visakhapatnam (north), Kuppam, Mangalagiri, Pithapuram and Mangalagiri. So, Jagan asked the party leaders to see that the victory margin of the TDP will drastically be reduced.

In the constituencies where the NDA has slight edge, like Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Narasaraopet, Ongole and Chittoor Lok Sabha seats and Gudivada, Macharla, Anaparthi and Punganur assembly seats, Jagan directed that they should be won at any cost, without looking for expenditure.

The YSRCP president has given strict instructions that the YSRCP should win not less than 40 seats in Rayalaseema, so that they could compensate for the loss in north coastal Andhra and Godavari districts. He asked the party workers to do strong poll management at the booth level.
