India’s literacy rate was around 10% when we got independence and now after decades of government support In uplifting the poor people, it is now around 80%.. poverty rates were 80-90% at the time of independence and is now less than 15%.. all this improvement is bcoz the political parties need the poor people votes.. if poor people don’t vote, political parties don’t have an incentive to take care of the poor.. But I am against these DBT schemes where the poor are given money every month or year for their spending.. instead they should get good education, job opportunities, low interest loans, housing, etc..
