just clear off the debts and after that pay everything possible using your credit card(regular expenses, gas, electricity, cell, phone etc etc) and make the credit card payment after you get the statement. do for 6 months and then check your score again.

applying for new credit cards or car loan or personal loan or any other loan will decrease your score by about 5-10 points everytime you apply for such a loan

as long as you are making minimum payments your credit score wont decrease. but if you miss even one payment your banker might report to credit agencies and that will result in big decrease. and yaa control your costs. spend only so much that you can pay it off every month.

thats not correct. using credit card and making timely payments will increase the score. if you dont use credit cards then chances of improving your credit score is very low. and your balance transfers will have high interest rates because of low score. you can even get 0% on balance transfers for 6 months to 18 months if you have good score and making minimum/full/morethan min payments.

its not only citi. thats how credit scores work.
