Google to leave prominent San Francisco waterfront office tower

Google is set to move out of a prominent tower at One Market Plaza near San Francisco’s waterfront, the company confirmed to KRON4.

The tech giant has told property owners at One Market Plaza that it will not be renewing the lease in April 2025 for the Spear Tower office location.

San Francisco is suffering a public relations problem with businesses leaving the city entirely or shutting down locations, and Google can be added to that list. The company will remain in San Francisco, and employees who currently work in the Spear Tower location will be moving to the other office locations within the city.

A Google spokesperson told KRON4, “…We’re focused on investing in real estate efficiently to meet the current and future needs of our hybrid workforce. We remain committed to our long-term presence in San Francisco.”

One Market Plaza sits at the foot of Market Street near the Ferry Building. Google has occupied the space at One Market Plaza since 2018.
