Jaipal Reddy to become the next CM of Andhra Pradesh before 2011?????

Alarmed that aspirants from Telangana are not making a forceful pitch for the post of chief minister, Congress leaders from the region are trying to convince Union minister Jaipal Reddy to project himself as a strong contender for the post currently held by K Rosaiah.

A day after returning to Hyderabad after the one-day AICC session in New Delhi on November 2, these Congress leaders claimed that they got indications that changes in Andhra Pradesh were in the offing and may take place before the AICC Plenary in New Delhi from December 18-20.

[b]"The indications we got is that Rosaiah's successor has to be a Reddy as the community is likely to rally behind YSR's son and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in case the post does not go to them. And Jaipal appears to be the strongest candidate from Telangana," said a source.

Jaipal has so far maintained that the high command should make the offer instead of he pursuing it. "He does not seem to realise that the high command will consider him only if he conveys to them his eagerness to become CM. Hopefully, the leaders from Telangana will make him change his mind," a leader from the region said.[/b]

But what these leaders seem not to recognise is that if the CM is from the region, it would convey the impression that Centre is not keen on a separate state. "The chances of creation of Telangana are brightest if the next CM is not from Telangana," said a leader.
