Pune Porsche accident case: Three sent to police custody for serving alcohol to teenager before crash

In the recent Porsche car accident case, a Pune court on Tuesday sent three accused to police custody till May 24, ANI reported.

The police arrested Cosie hotel's owner Naman Bhutada, bar counter manager Sachin Katkar and Blak club manager Sachin Sangle, for serving alcohol to the juvenile.

It was also reported that the father of the juvenile has been arrested. However, the police is yet to present him in court for custody.

On Sunday, the 17-year-old son of a prominent builder in Pune had hit a motorcycle with his Porsche car in the Kalyani Nagar area, claiming the lives of two persons. It was later found that the minor had been drinking at a pub with his friends before the accident.

The minor driver was booked for rash and negligent driving, causing harm by endangering safety of lives, death by negligence under Sections 304A, 279, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act. The juvenile was also booked under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and is likely to be tried as a adult.

A Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune on Sunday granted bail to the minor, on the condition that he submits a 300-word essay on road accidents after studying all traffic rules and regulations at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The Board also directed that the parents of the minor shall take care that he will not be involved in such offences in the future and kept away from bad company.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised strong action against the teen who crashed his high-end car into a motorbike, killing two people on the spot. Mr Fadnavis condemned the "lenient" punishment given to the boy by the Juvenile Justice Board - a 300-word essay on accidents, working with the traffic police for 15 days and undergoing counselling for his drinking - in contrast with the heinous crime. "How can the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board give such an order," he asked.
