old part of city has narrow roads. but the recent development happening towards the north eastern part of city is not bad. have you visited it recently?

was never a fan of kakinada beaches. but the city seemed more developed.

RJY is iruku...KKD is spacious and good education and health care. Attractions: Godavari and Beach. Mostly two will be like twin cities. RJY is well connected. Railway junction and Airport. KKD is neither a junction nor has an airport. KKD railways junction is Smalkota Junction a bit far from the city and it is not a mail junction.

Kakinada has govt infra as capital of east godavari 

rjy is more connected well and developing

Rjy mass kkd class .

Least to talk abt rjy.hospitals ..except couple of them rest are third rated, cheaters 

 

Kkd you can enjoy sea food ..

Below is my opinion:

Travel: Rajahmundry (infact best in Godavari districts)

1. excellent connectivity by Road/Rail to Hyd, Vskp and Vja, new greenfield highways are coming up)

2. Interior city travel: Rjy has more traffic, Roads are still small but are widened when I checked this Jan (ex: devi chowk road is wider than last I know), Kakinada better in this.

3. More trains with more wait time. Again, best station in Godavari districts.

4. Airport with connectivity to Hyd, Chennai and BlR direct connections every day, heard Delhi route will be operated, not sure when.

4. Within East, Kakinada is nearer to most other populated towns and villages than Rjy does.

but for rest, Rjy.

 

Climate: Both are humid, moderately polluted (Rjy less polluted than Kakinada due to more factories/industries in later than former), Kakinada has more greenery but hot as near by shore.

by the way, Rajahmundry papermill used to release some gas every day that smells awfully (nearby areas), not sure if still the case.

Food/eat out: Rajahmundry.
1. Cuisine is same,
2. eat out options: Rajahmundry (more and more modern hotels, robo hotel or in JN road and outskirts and breweries), 
3. specialties: Rosemilk vs Kaaja.

Hospitals: Now a days more or less same, but Kakinada has edge as mentioned in other posts.

 

Educations: Kakinada
schools: both are same;
Inter: Rajamundry these days (Tirumala)
Engineering: Kakinada (Jntu) or politechnic,
Medicine: Rangaraya in Kkd and  GSL + New govt med. college in Rjy

Sports: private sports clubs in Rajahmundry but dist. govt ones in kkd.

Parks: almost same. Rajahmundry Kambal tank park is modernized recently.

Other aspects:
. Culture,history: Rajamundry (for ex: below points)
    . Godavari (Festivals, pushkaralu etc intertwined with Godavari and deeply rooted with everything related to culture) vs beach. 
    . Some historic sites/art gallieries/small musuems.
. Commercial market and shopping: Rajahmundry. therefore, many from near by towns and villages travel every day to this place.
. Movies: Kakinada has better theatres now, many theatres in Rjy are closed. Rjy:Movie shootings do happen sometimes.
. Public transport: Rjy (mostly autos every where all the time, City bus services were intermittent over years, started and stopped multiple times due to no occupancy), KKD guess same, no idea. 
. Rajahmundry has significant non-telugu population as its a commercial center (Marvadis, Jains) and also due to few central govt offices(ongc, gail etc but same with Kkd in this aspect)
. Rajahmundry cramped,dense and conjusted with buildings Kainada spacious and less dense.

housing and renting: guess both same.

For retirement Kakinada is better, less outward travel much and need better hospitals. else, Rajahmundry.
