This is what happened to one person I know.

 

Wife filed case on him while he is in India. Police arrested him within 2 days. Police love cases like this. Police asked 30 lakhs bribe .this is back in 2008 .. 

And wife 2 Crores ..he paid 1 crore to wife 20 lakhs to police..got case removed.. left India and divorce settled. 

 

Basically wife told him to not spend money on parents. He spent 70% of his income in his sister family . His brother in law is drunkard and spendthrift.. 

Wife warned him several times to pay attention on his own family first..  he never listened. He never hit her either.

Later she married to her colleague. Husband e is 50% at fault.

Husband is not at fault. It's his money at the end of the day. She should have divorced him directly instead. That's nothing short of blackmail. Fortunately, things in 498a changed a lot these days. If the husband fights and wife couldn't provide evidence in the court, and court strikes down 498a then court will grant divorce on the cruelty grounds, if applied and even reduces or removes alimony completely. 498a is always a psychological war. If you're strong, you will emerge victorious.
