Milk prices to go up in Karnataka from Wednesday, week after fuel price hike; liquor next in line

The ruling Congress in the State on Tuesday announced an increase in prices of milk sold by Nandini, a product of the cooperative milk federation (KMF) triggering widespread anger as it comes in less than 10 days of steep hike in petrol and diesel prices. The government is said to be working on increasing taxes on liquor from July.

The milk price hike of Rs 2 per litre, a second one in less than a year of the Congress coming to power, has given ammunition to the Opposition BJP and JDS to attack the government.
