Simple .. you have 2 options - Quit or stay and adjust.

IF you want to adjust .. you need to change your mind set.

If what they are suggesting you to do sound wierd or wrong or does not make sense to you, its the same for them. PERIOD. Your process also sound same for them.

If they have the upper hand, you have 2 options

1. Listen to every thing they say and follow their architecture, guidelines, principles, etc.

2. Put on your political/diplomat hat and play smart. Hey your process is wonderful and awsome and I can see why you are following that. There is a slight problem though following the same approach to our project - Explain. Explain why some of the things do not work and say .. its upto you. If you are ready to take risk and move it to a different architecture, I am OK but its your decision. When you put someone on spot and take decision, most people wont.

Ultimately realize its a power game (not about right or wrong architecture), who has upper hand, etc.

Pick your battles wisely ..

It might sound like a good thing but its not. If you are given more ownership and not given enough resources, you need to raise your voice and say "This is what I need for the project to be successful". Raise it as a risk with your manager and say you are setup for failure. Unless the resources are given as per needs, you are not a magicion to make it work. Make it clear. Else, you will fail
