How long does Tatkal Indian Passport renewal take?

Mail will take extra 1 day for receiving and 1 day for sending.

Once the passport is ready is there an option to pick it up directly from VFS rather than waiting for the mail? 

Mail itey 1 week .. in person itey 3 days lo pickup .. Mail chesettu itey make sure to include all docs .. naa friend change of appearance doc pettadam marchipotey adi pampani hold lo pettadu .. your tatkal clock wont start till they receive and verify all docs. in person option untey adi inka better as you dont need to notarize and they verify all docs there itself

I got my renewed passport in hand now.

Thank you Everyone for suggesting the Walkin option.

I got it in 3 days but in second try.

I wasted a day in first try and the application was rejected as I didn't  select "Change of personal details" along with "Renewal of Passport" as options . As I walked in , only one day got wasted.

I had to rebook my flight tickets but thanks for the advices and reducing my stress . @megadheera @Pahelwan4 @summer27

First Try:

Friday  :   Posted the documents

Monday : Came to know of the Walk in process in the forum.

                 Walked in , It was rejected and got the application in hand.

Second try:

Tuesday: Reapplied with Walk in .

                In Transit from VFS to Consulate.

Wednesday: Got an email at night that police verification request was sent.

Thursday : Police verification Done and they replied to Consulate.

                   Consulate sent the package to VFS.

                    VFS Fedexed.

                    VFS suggested to ask Fedex to hold the package at the origin and pick it up personally  if I am short of time.

                    I already missed my flight so waited for the package.

Friday Morning: received the package.
