Terrible experience with Jio: Ambani's drama funding

When in India few months back, We paid 3600 inr something for jio landline and broadband installation. Landline is mandatory as the mobile signal in home is very weak.

They installed broadband and landline. But the landline didn't work. Wanted to check jio customer care, but it only works for taking bookings for new connections through voice prompts and nothing else. Called the installation guy. He came to repair and said problem with building, when enquired in other flats, the landline was working. From that day, the guy comes home everyday in the morning around 11 am and stays for 2 or more hours, down. They will ask for OTP, to confirm the repair was success. After 2 days, we said, not feeling comfortable in giving  OTP without issue rectification. Then one person called and introduced himself as manager and said, they will not repair it, if we don't give OTP. We budged. This happened for almost 10 days. They couldn't repair it. We requested for refund, they asked to call customer care and it only works to take new connections via voice prompts.As money was already paid for 3 months, we waited and changed the network. Then the people from recovery agents started harassing for 1000 something unpaid bill. We argued with them for refund as they couldn't provide the service promised. They refused. Everyday new guy with new number calls and we have to explain same everyday.

We have postpaid jio mobile not linked to the above landline. In foreign country, I accidentally switched it on for internet, thinking the sim linked to internet is foreign sim. Internet didn't work, then i realised mistake and changed to other sim.meanwhile in  india, Internet and outgoing calls from mobiles in the family plan stopped working from next day. They charged 3500 something for that mistake. since we crossed limit of 1200 inr, other phones stopped working. We called customer care and explained situation, we asked them how can ongoing usage go beyond 1200 without using any data, and they should have cut the connection after reaching limit, they didn't agree and we have to pay 3500 immediately to restore usage on other mobiles.

When I see this wedding drama by this Ambanis, I feel like they stole a bit of money from us, for their fun.

Why no one responding, is it very a common practice in India. In the country, I mostly reside, I never experienced even a bit of malpractice by any company.

Early 2000 lo reliance mobile ani vachindi, baabu appatlo janalaki 5k 10k bills pampadu, taruvatha evadu kattaledu. But ambani is main reason for low mobile calls pricing in india. Anthaka mundu airtel vadu dochesevadu..

Now jio and airtel iddaru oka understanding tho tarrif lu penchu kuntu pothunnaru..149rs plan 300 ki vachindi..

True, the prices have reduced drastically after Jio.  But, it's not fair for them to not provide landline along with broadband. They don't even have customer care 8, 9 months back(don't know current situation) for broadband service, to discuss and request for refund. My mother, very old, can only talk comfortable through landline and the mobile signal is also very weak inside home. Those 3 months, she used to always complain about not having landline. 

May be I could have tried through different channels for resolution, but, due to bad bureaucracy in india, dropped the idea considering time and money. 

not sure, why they charged about 3500, though couldn't even open google.com in that foreign country.

I think you did not read their policy straight. Even if you did turn on by mistake the company is obligated to pay for the service to the foreign country in their Local currency it is your problem. Lets say they disconnected your phone after crossing 1200 inr, you will again complain on this saying that you did not notice ..  it is a circle you are into. 

When you take connection it is your job to enquire about details like connection procedure, disconnection procedure, what happens when the account goes to delinquency etc. Most of the Desis get to know about this when they are in US . When the same guy goes to India he does not care at all my big question is WHY .. Laziness  or let go of nature or i can do what i want  .. still it is a big puzzle for me...

I agree with you Bro, regarding foreign location charges. In fact, we didn't request them to increase 1200, though they want to, as  mistakes might happen from my side and to be on safer side.  In this case, even a simple Google.com didn't open, but they charged about 3500, much more beyond the safer 1200 limit. If they charged only 1200, I wouldn't have bothered much.  Anyway, I am OK to consider this as a punishment.

 

Whatever Jio argues, there is clear violation in installing non working landline . We will definitely get justice if we go to court. Considering the money and time required, we dropped the idea.

 

The bigger issue is, if they can cheat 1 crore random people for 100 rs every month,  they earn 1200 crore  a year. Which can be used by Ambanis to increase their luxury. Those 1 crore people doesn't even realise about the extra charges or don't bother considering the amount involved. But there might be atleast 100 people for whom that 100rs might be very critical. Just to to increase lavishness of one family, every month 100 people might suffer.

 govt should take one such case very seriously and fine them in hefty amounts.

 

I am not just singling jio, i am sure, this is going on in all the companies in India.
