Once ur PD becomes current, uscis would ask for updated medicals and 485J supplement. You can be proactive and submit 485j just to lock your employer. Nonetheless, if the time frame between 485 submission and pd becoming current is more than 2 years, thy would need to update medicals and 485j. You have most likely submitted medicals before 2022, in which case they expire in 2years. be prepared to get new ones. 1 Quote
phatposts Posted August 15, 2024 Report Posted August 15, 2024 What @akkum_bakkum said is 100% right. I filed for 485J through new employer. they filed only because I asked. But an attorney recently said his recommendation is not to file J Supplement unless USCIS asks for it. His reasoning is the officer see there is a Supplement J filed, they may want to review that as well before approving and that could lead to delays getting that document. Instead if they determine a J is mandatory they will ask via RFE and the response will take care of itself. Quote

You just need an employer who can sign 485j. I'd say dont bother filing 485j unless uscis ask for it. I know some ppl received gc based on 485 with previous employer before filing 485j with current employer. @csrcsr to confirm/correct. 1 Quote
