I totally disagree with you... I think You failed to acknowledge crucial differences:

Intent and action these are 2 different things,

Rapists commit violent criminal acts these were happening right before the digital era ,back in days every one blamed the Adult Videos and Books for these crimes.. even after the ban of these did not reduced the rape count. a rapist would be always looking for an opportunity all they need is a small window to commit the crime.

while online commenters, every one thinks they are invisible in online conversations hence the inner side of the man / women comes out openly , though these are potentially offensive, are not physically harming anyone, though unethical, these are often protected under free speech laws. Many online commenters may be unaware of the harm they cause emotionally and could potentially change their behavior through education and awareness campaigns or if they know that there Id's are going to be made public.
