'Bad Girls' on Hyd roads

The great Mahatma Gandhi once said “Our Nation will have achieved true independence and freedom when a woman can walk in the midnight all alone and feels safe”.

While his intention and contention about the essence of freedom meant something positive, the generation today seems to have taken a rather abstract interpretation to it.

We are referring to girls of today who believe in having a life of their own and feel that entering the kitchen is below their dignity and individuality. While the vision of Gandhiji is indeed turning out to be true it is being done in a rather obnoxious backdrop. Girls are seen moving freely during midnights but either they are prostitutes, or from high profile families who believe in getting drunk and hanging out at pubs to be life. Though it might come across as recognition to their rights and acknowledging them as equal to man, the fact remains that the day a woman steps out of her surroundings, it is either a catastrophe to the home or a path of ruin to her own life.

There is no doubt that girls must be encouraged to pursue their dreams and goals and become something in life. But this is not to an extent where she forgets her real essence and tries to be something that she is not. Perhaps the latest statistics on divorces, illicit affairs, increasing number of smokers in girls are few of those aspects which have shown the result of ‘freedom’.

[color=red][size=12pt][b]A case has seen light off late where a group of girls harassed a young boy at midnight 2 am near Life Style building in Begumpet after getting inebriated with heavy booze. The guy tried to handle that first but ran away in fear within few minutes. Girls are seen consuming drugs as well on par with ‘bad guys’.[/b][/size][/color]

Similar incident happened at HSBC area in Banjara Hills two weeks ago where two guys were harassed by drunken call center ladies shouting loudly that they are attempting to molest them although they were going silent. Knowing the power of women as per Indian law, the guys ran away from the place fearing police intervention.

As for the dark hours of midnight, the new definition seems to be if a man can walk alone and reach home safely then the true independence and safety has been achieved.
