Most probably, the OP suffered from a GI-related symptom, and an ECG is the best test to rule out anything serious. From our side, one thing we can do to track any arrhythmias is to get something like the Kardiamobile (available on Amazon) or even something simpler like an Apple Watch. While the watch will not provide a lot of data, it can at least warn against atrial fibrillation, which can be asymptomatic sometimes, but can raise the risk of stroke. We don't usually do the CT scan , we do coronary CT angiography only after ECG has no significant findings and troponins , in triage we do initially echo to see difference in movement of the walls of the damaged heart due to decreased blood supply and if it is not significant and still we have doubt we do CT angio to see clot in small vessels or for better visualization of the clot in blood vessels of heart So the most sensitive I repeat the most important one is history , if you see classic description of the chest pain with clenching fist and complains of heaviness of chest on exertion or even at rest , if the infarction involves inferior part of heart the pain will be similar to what people may confuse with gastric pain and which cannot be picked on ECG so if even if investigations are negative be more suspicious take to cath lab Especially in women the pain may not be typical so look for other symptoms of increased sweating, breathlessness , nausea and sense of doom that is intuition of something worse is going is also complained by the patient So my approach is chest pain should always be evaluated thoroughly for myocardial infarction only after ruling it out by history and investigations and other emergency cause of chest pain is tear in the large blood vessel aorta coming from the heart which presents as tearing type of pain which radiates to back So only ruling out these life threatening causes then think of other causes which can be gastrointestinal conditions and other causes of chest pain Quote
