Trussville doctor faces new criminal charges including human trafficking

 

The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners has suspended the license of a Blount County Doctor charged with human trafficking of a minor.

According to an affidavit from the Blount County District Attorney’s office, Earla traded money and other gifts with an underage patient for sexual conduct.

According to charging documents, the investigation began earlier this month when the alleged victim told her mother that Earla touched her inappropriately and told her she was beautiful during a visit at Earla's Trussville office. Investigators say Earla also began texting the girl and asking her to keep the messages hidden from her parents.

The girl reported the texts to her mother who then turned her phone in to the investigators. The sheriff’s office turned the phone over to an FBI Investigator who acted as the girl to arrange for a meet-up between Earla and who he thought was the teenage patient at an Blount County hotel. According to investigators, Earla showed up to that alleged meet-up with cash, condoms, and alcohol.
