I don't know about fake but there is a big scam of loaning SSNs. Indian origin USC (young adults) are loaning their SSNs in return for a fee.

I noticed this a lot in ABCDs of Telangana Reddies and Vizag people.. Real estate boom tho thopulu ayipoyina vallu. Vere vallallo choodaledu but doesn't mean this is absent. Basically, they are allowing illegals (mostly mexicans and arabs) to work on their name/ssn. Vallaki vachina dabbula nundi veellaki share ivvali.. so, these people constantly get passive income with others' hardwork.. It probably is a win-win situation for both.. on one side, these people get passive income while the workers get better wages. Ippati varaku $2-$4 dollar iche vaallu, ippudu easy ga $10 chesukuntunnaru.
