D. Srinivasan of  Sree Annapoorna hotel told the Union Finance Minister about the challenges faced by hoteliers in billing by highlighting that a bun doesn’t attract GST, but a cream bun attracts 18% GST.

A day after his comments went viral, Srinivasan met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman again, sparking speculation that he had been pressured to apologize for his quip

Later, during a private conversation, Srinivasan apologised to Sitharaman for his remarks in the presence of Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan. “Please pardon me for my comments. I do not belong to any political party,” he is heard saying.
