A lot depends on when the person came to USA, how long he has been working here, how much contribution they are doing and the employer contribution.

If you have been maxing out for the past 14 years, with a employer contribution of 5% and assuming returns of 6% CAGR, your 401k should have close to 500k.

Taking the average scenario .. where people are not maxing out but doing 50% contribution, 

Age 60 - 1.2 M

Age 50 - 570 K

Age 40 - 250 K

Andaru same age Vomerica raaru andru FT cheyuaru. May will have 2 paychecks at home some have only one. All you need funds in savings don't get involved in much 401K stuff and don't feel stressed. All will be fine.
