Why do we have this in India, primarily in front of gates of public institutions?

What do you call them? Drainage ki anakandi. Mana illa mundu kooda drainage vuntadi. We have it underground. Also, is it true that snakes cannot crawl over these?

dogs, pigs and cows can't walk over them ... so they can't enter the campus ...

theier hooves dont get a grip on the grill to walk on it ... !!!

Emantaro telvadu but animal control kosam use chestaru. Esp cattle, goats, sheep etc. ie animals balance chesukolev as the rolls rotate the moment they step on them and loose the balance making it hard for them to cross…

Even I heard snakes can’t crawl but dont know how effective they are…
