- no noisy neighbors - upstairs / downstairs

- no curry smell from neighbors

- more cost towards utilities.

If you can afford it, why not? More privacy, more room, backyard, garage, more storage. But don't stretch your finances to do it.

It also depends on the age of the kids (if you have). If they are 5 and above, apartment living may not be for you. Renting a house is much wiser then—you get to enjoy renting and living in a bigger house without the headache of maintenance.

If you are just a couple - Apartment best
If you have more than 1 kid - SFH all the way

Bay area example teeskunte - 3.2k for a 2B2B apartment in a good school district vs $4k+ for a SFH in the same school district. Even if adding extra $100 for utilities you are seeing at extra spend of $1k with all the house size + privacy + backyard convenience without the headache of house maintenance + property taxes or mortgage IMO.

House is not just for hosting parties and inviting friends. Of course you will save a lot staying in apartments but you cannot give a nice environment for kids. Kids have to stay home and they can’t make any friends or can’t go to their friends house etc. apartment is best for newly couple or without kids. And you cannot call your apartment as your HOME.

staying in apartment is not just for saving brother. 

what nice environment you are talking about; kids have to stay at home, can't have frnds, cannot go to their friends house -- endanna idi ekkadi kenchi pattukonchinav ee thought process; own house vunte sudden ga kids become super kids aa basket ball, Swimming, Tennis anni automatic ga nerchesukuntara. 

mana potta batta desi uncles sitting in couch watching bigg boss in living room and their kids stuck to their ipads watching nonsense on youtube and tiktok in their respective rooms is the nice environment you are talking about ?

also, 2/3 bedrooms kaadu there are town home type properties are there where you can rent and give the same experience to kids that you mentioned in your comment above.

owning vs renting is individual preference.
