I am absolutely stunned at the complete lack of understanding of the link between productivity and working more hours. Just because one works extra hours does not necessarily mean that the employee is being productive at the same rate of quality.

 

It is natural that as we work through the day - your energy and focus levels decrease a bit and eventually reach a saturation point. 

 

If anything, if you allow an atmosphere in the company where people have good work life balance - in the long run that company will have more productive employees.

And if the employee is skilled enough - they'll always have mobility and move to a company offering better work life balance.
