I don't believe caste played any role here .  I guess MSK is just a salty  person especially toward his fellow andhra players( omitting rayudu when he scored three times  more runs  than the next player at #4 ,in the 18months leading to WC,  now throwing shade and then immediately taking credit for NKR success)

Telugu players are always given raw hand. Venkatapathy Raju topped the wicket charts against Westindies in 1994 taking 20 wickets in 3 test series. But guess what, he was not selected for the next test match series against NZ. Sad there was no social media back then.

Rayudu did not play another ODI after not getting selected to WC. He was 35 and selectors after a World Cup failure tend to go to younger players to get them ready for next World Cup, rather than bringing back Rayudu who may not play for 4 more years due to his age. No matter what one says, Rayudu deserve a place in that team and if not for one salty MSK, Indian team  would have played with a #4 who was groomed almost 2 years for the same .
