avoid anything related to python

otherwise you have to compete with kids who just freshly came out of college and they are plenty 

better chose java, but dont stop there expand your skill set to other layers like cloud, devops, front end, specially domain knowledge…etc

Java is just a language ,you need to learn frameworks like spring or struts(i don't know if anyone is using struts since spring is very popular now,but i learned it out of college).

Python is good for data science tools with libraries like numpy ,skykit pandas etc..  and also for machine learning with tools like pytorch.

But web development these days is mostly javascript using API calls . Some systems are still using java for multithreading which isn't present in javascript.

 

In present day most supported languages with biggest communities are javascript and python .

I'm a java dev, I'm working on transitioning to a Data Engineer. My reasons:

 

 

No longer interested to work with java, lost enthusiasm after working for so long.

Better & upgraded tech stack with Data Engineer roles with possiblity of working with ML and AI which is where the future is...

 

Last but not the least, better pay scales for Data Engineer.

 

 

I believe anyone who wants to pursue Data Engineer should do and not think that it is for new MS students or any other reason.....

 

 

My reasoning could be wrong  but I'm trying to transition nonetheless.....
