Following are my reasons 1. H4-EAD spouses from tech education backgrounds or previous tech experiences in India are eating in already high competition, cut through H1B job market. I have experienced this firsthand while interacting with hiring managers in professional tech conferences, they lean to hire H4-EAD against H1B because it completely frees them from visa processing and applying greencard mess. It is also cost effective it terms of benefits, since most H4-EAD opt out from medical coverage since the family gets covered for medical insurance through their primary H1 spouse. 2. Foreign students are biggest victims in this process since they are replaced by H4-EADs for entry level jobs. Since H4-EAD's are not the primary earners, they are ok taking up a entry level tech job that pays less. Most of them prefer flexible job that pays less or moderate to focus on kids. This is why all entry levels jobs for students have vanished. H4-EAD's from non tech backgrounds are the ones who really hurt citizens. Since H4-EAD is a blanket work permit that allows to do any job, Spouses take up minimum wage jobs such as retail jobs or minimum wage healthcare jobs that are usually for high school graduates. You can see tons of H4-EAD on this job category. There are also H4-EADs who run a single employee home catering, clothing business, beauty parlors, henna artist that directly eat into jobs of desi citizens. 4.H1/H4-EAD double income has increased the income inequality giving unfair advantage over non-tech jobs double incomes and single incomes. The direct result of this can been in unrealistic increase in housing prices, bidding wars and unaffordable rents across all cities, especially in tech corridors. People are even pissed about H1B right now since the market is so bad. Half of the IT jobs would be permanently outsourced to other countries if not for H1-B. Quote

Both are sweat shops paying less and making them work over time . Big mncs do abuse more than consultancies, they even do green card frauds like EB1 and get away with it easily 1 Quote
