The things I know: 1) CD 2) High yield savings account 3) SPY(I don't think its safe now based on current valuations) Any other ways? Earnest replies only please CD should be ruled out. If you withdraw before the maturity date, you have to pay penalty. Not the right choice for an emergency fund. Also on maturity, if you do not move money into your savings within 10 days, they automatically enroll for another 1 yr and this time they give 0.0001% interest. It is a kinda scam all banks are doing. BEWARE. Robinhood and CIT Bank give around 4.5% interest - your safest bet. If you want to make more - 6.6-8% look at high-yield bonds. There is some risk but bond prices seem to have found the bottom. Use the Yahoo screener to find the right bonds with yields. Buy Income funds like GOF, PDI that give 14+% monthly dividends. Again there is some risk, but yield is good. 1 2 Quote
