In USA, mortgage is common....don't consider it as debt, think of it as renting with a large deposit. 1 Quote

Nah, that's what banks and lenders sell you. It's never that. We are yet to experience a depression which is a cyclic phenomenon that results in large amounts of wealth transfer. The deflation will always coincide with high gold prices and high interest rates. At that point, your deposit is up for a toss and you are struck with MORTAGAGE. Even without that, renting is always better as you can back out at will unlike mortgage, plus maintenance costs are taken care of. Quote

At the end of the day you will end up with 25-35 year old houses, and builders will still keep building generic new houses which new generation will keep paying for. RE lol most important asset is land not the house itself. But most of the people keep buying sub urbs. North America lo sub urbs vasthane untayi. Quote

kevinUsa Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 Lack of opportunity, especially for research, science and tech. Yes we have top class engineers, but they either leave the country or work for some multinational company. The "system" never works. Any kind of interaction with the government is a humongous pain. Corrupt politicians and people gullible enough to vote for them (even worship them) makes it impossible to have any kind of accountability or transparency from the government. Lack of education and civic sense. People throw garbage on the streets, spit in public places and even in trains, nobody has any respect for law and order. Traffic is chaos. Nobody even understands how to follow a queue. It's as though you're in a perpetual competition with everyone else around you. Weighted against this, there's only one reason to stay and it's good enough: It's my country - I grew up here and most of the people I care about are here. Quote
kevinUsa Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 If I had the money, i would definitely consider moving. Let's see how to succeed in India Get 90+ in 10, 90+ in 12th, beat out 90% of population in JEE, get into IIT (0.xx% acceptance) then get a job. Do job for 3-4 years to save money. Repeat the same process, beat 99.99% of the Indian population to get into IIM ABC. You're 26, debt ridden, with no hobbies, but at least you have a job! Work for the next decade to repay loans and slowly improve QOL. You're 36. You're finally free to live your life! Except now you have to marry, have kids and put them through the same process. When "successful" people are living like this, imagine how others are 1 Quote
