It's not fetish. It's simply stating the truth. I think you developed a negative bias against IIT grads because you didn't get into one. 

You are compensating that by somehow equating it with working with some IIT alumni (so you claim),and that puts you at par with their achievement. If you made progress without going to IIT, that's good for you; but this perceived over compensation of  yours will only reveal your inferiority complex, or at worse your  jealousy. It doesn't put you at par with them. Give those that achieved some credit. They are not stealing yours.
