A friend of my cousin's acquaintance used to work for an employer until November 2024, when they were laid off. They planned to convert to H4 status and then apply for an EAD based on their spouse’s H1 visa. After converting, they approached the employer, who requested a fee of $50K that covers both commission and managing the running payroll.
