I've been saying the same—Zelensky needs to strike a deal with Russia, offering so-called security guarantees to Russia in exchange for mineral rights.

The U.S. securing mineral exploration rights would be akin to opening a route into Central Asia. While the Soviet Union and later Russia successfully restricted U.S. influence in the region, if Ukraine grants these rights, the path to Central Asia for the U.S. could soon take shape.

In my opinion , Ukraine will go down and will take the entire Europe down with them. They are now beyond recovery and all the cities that are bombed now are ghost cities which will never come back to life or at least for the next few decades…its dead investment. Aid turned to loan, assurances will lead to more aggression.

Not really, the whole aggression started when Ukraine started drifting closer to EU and NATO. It started in early 2010’s and result, they lost Crimea. Had they negotiated then, ceeded their Nato dreams, they would have been in much better place. Even today, give up MATo dreams and come to an agreement with Russia and they will provide security being a former soviet state. Not someone who does not have a stake in the region like US

NATO was formed to stop Russian aggresion did you forgot that ? Obviously they will occupy Ukraine today or tomorrow.

What if dems come back next term ? Aggression here was not an instantaneous action, almost 20 years for now. Russians initiated dialogue, political resolution and when nothing worked, blood less hostile takeover of Crimea. Did Ukraine make an attempt to set things right then ? No, instead they aggravated the situation and all these happened when Dems were in power and the same may happen again when Dems return so action from Russia can be justified from your point of view..
