My intention was if it was only mainframe computers then there is no personal laptop ... to me thats most important game changing innovation as data and knowledge is now acccesible to every one irrespective of region/religion/caste or whatever... good to age old concept of libraries. Quote The transistor is widely considered one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century because the introduction of semiconductors sparked a revolution in electronics on par with that of steel and steam engines in the Industrial Revolution. It's hard to underplay the significance of the moment Quote Invention of computers did not immediately start a revolution and its only when transistors were discovered in 1947 by 2 scientists of Bell Labs, it was kind of revolution since earlier Vaccum tubes used too much of electricity and had limited usage. -- Innovators By Walter Isac Quote The invention of the microprocessor would prove to be the single most significant event in my professional life.Without it, there would be no Microsoft. -- Bill Gates 1 Quote

While Tesla was a brilliant inventor, he was not a businessman. In contrast, figures like Edison and J.P. Morgan thrived in a system where financial power, business acumen, and strategic control mattered as much as innovation. How Capitalism Worked Against Tesla 1. Lack of Business Mindset • Tesla prioritized scientific discovery over profit. • He often gave up patents or rejected financial opportunities, believing in free access to knowledge. • Example: He tore up his AC royalties contract with Westinghouse to help save the company, losing a fortune. 2. Corporate Monopolies & Financial Power • Capitalists like Edison, Morgan, and Rockefeller controlled industries. • J.P. Morgan, Tesla’s investor for Wardenclyffe Tower, cut off funding when he realized wireless power couldn’t be monetized like wired electricity. 3. Market-Driven Innovation • Investors backed technologies that were profitable over those that were revolutionary but difficult to commercialize. • Tesla’s ideas like wireless energy and global free power didn’t align with a system where companies made money selling electricity. 4. The Media & Influence of Capitalists • Tesla was often portrayed as an eccentric dreamer, while Edison was seen as the practical businessman-inventor who delivered real products. • Without strong financial backers, Tesla’s projects were dismissed as impractical or too risky. Conclusion While Tesla’s own choices contributed to his struggles, capitalism—favoring those who could control markets, patents, and profits—sidelined his genius. He died nearly penniless, while Edison, Westinghouse, and Morgan built financial empires. Tesla’s downfall wasn’t due to a lack of talent but rather his misalignment with a profit-driven system that rewarded business strategy over pure innovation. Quote
