most of the times on-campus jobs are with limited hours 20hrs a week sometimes it might supplement your living expenses sometimes it may not, with lots n lots of Indian students coming to study it gets more difficult to find on campus and to offload their loans or supplement tuition fee often students resort to work outside which is against the rules of F1 Visa, this is a very common practice among students including myself.

Nenu chesanu brother. Came from a poor family. Worked 20 hours on campus just for living and got enough for one year tuition. That was back before 2005. Now with asset prices appreciating so much in India where is the desparation coming from to work from day one. I would blame the parents as well

information overload, already vellinavallu ochcheyii raa memu chusukuntam ani, 
antha enduku maa junior gadu ochchadu, ochchi ragane maa university lo ardam ayindii on campus and off campus konchem kastam ani coz ours is a small university, SVU lo valla dost vunnadu akkadiki poyi pizza store lo off kottukoni I will study annadu; I had to use some expletives to come into his senses and talk to professors and find about funding and all, he literally studied for free this was around 2013.
people are not trying at all is what I feel. 

also most of the times I noticed is that middle and lower middle class ppl are desperate to go to US without any hesitation despite them having not financial backup, even some are leaving high paying jobs like 12+ LPA vallu kuda desperate to come.

the other day I stayed at a motel in westpalm beach, a kid from hyd was working there at front desk, he had a job ~10 LPA but still came to US, I felt remorse in his words about making a wrong decision. and now he cannot go back since he has education loan.
