A two-and-a-half-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries after a speeding car ran over her in a gated community, in Kukatpally, on Sunday evening.

The victim was playing in front of her residence in Vaddepally Enclave when a speeding car ran over her.

According to delayed reports, the driver, Venkateshwar Rao, 50, a resident of another block within the same community, was arrested by Kukatpally police following a complaint from the girl’s family on March 17.

According to the police, the girl was playing in the middle of the road when Rao took his car out and failed to notice her. His speeding car ran over her. She was rushed to a private hospital for treatment but succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of March 17.
