There are NO Indian restaurants in United States

Contrary to popular opinion, there are ZERO Indian restaurants in United States.

Restaurants that serve Rice and oily appetizers aren't considered Indian.

They are just like the Indian version of Burger King and McDonalds.

There are millet based restaurants and heard that they are gaining popularity.

Some upscale do offer healthier options.

I used to think the same way until I started checking Google Maps more often. Some of these places label themselves as Indian but serve mostly fusion or generic stuff. Real deal restaurants are there, but you’ve gotta read reviews or join local Desi groups who know where to go. I found a couple of solid Andhra-style places through those channels in my area.
