ChanceCoffeeLover Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 Friend son is senior in HS. He wants to do BS in CS. However, friend is worried about future job prospects in a over saturated market. But son is not interested in other fields. I suggested may be business as a minor as a backup. What other fields are good? Quote

What other fields are good? CS is not going away anytime soon but will change the direction , we don't need traditional programmers who code using existing programming languages , we need new programming languges customized for AI work loads , and we need new developers to develop new AI models , MCPs , agents , and so many AI / ML related .... so if that kid is interested in CS , understand the industry trend and go into that Quote

What other fields are good? Building work, building industry, Plumbing, Gas/Heat Engineering (if living in Northern hemisphere), Car repairing/servicing, Pharma retailing, Pharma auditing etc. Each one of the above is worth in gold. It will become similar to civil engg. mechanical engg. Till now even average CS students were earning a lot more compared to other engg graduates but future especially for new grads ala undadu. They will face competition from outsourcing and automation. Quote
enigmatic Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 if he is good, going to some top university for cs he should be ok. i think cs major with minor in ai/ml or quant or computational finance should cover pretty much all the high paying fields. Quote
