They are sending letters and notifying university now, for people whose visas were revoked for dui etc in the past but continued staying here.

until now it was ok to stay and only travel outside was not advised because consulate would question them. Now they are actively sending self deport letters and communicating to universities to ask students leave the country. Next for h1 employers will be notified to terminate employment and advise employees to leave the country for any past crimes or arrest records.

for example you had domestic violence case in the past, you are staying here with visa , now you and your employer will get letter asking to pack your bags
