*Prince Charming Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 How many of you discuss any issues you face with your dad. I personally talk to my mom first because I feel more comfortable. I don't have any issues with my father but it's just some mental block I have to talk to him. Can anyone please share if you were like me and eventually were able to be more free with your dad. I feel like I'm missing out by not talking to him more. Please no jokes, satires or pulka comments....🙏 Quote

Please no jokes, satires or pulka comments....🙏 Are Jaffa comments okay bro?? LOL.. Lets come to the serious topic you are on.. It depends on what stage of life, what you exactly want to share, when? How much is it emotionally related? Is it related to finance? is it to do with career? Whats your father profile? I mean is he into professional job already? Or is it a standard format of early years of new millenium where father (& mother) mostly uneducated or semi-educated and their children all of sudden get a job paying 5-6 figure salary. What exactly you want to share? Where exactly are you in your stage of life?? . So many unknowns and measurable parameters... Simple answer: YES you must talk and share on whatever goes in your life.. Of late, in India also we have step-father, step-mother etc.... so where exactly are we in that above dirty chain is the basic question. Sorry if I hurt you anywhere (saying this only because you are serious & sincerely asking this question ) Quote

Sorry if I hurt you anywhere (saying this only because you are serious & sincerely asking this question ) Father is educated and did a professional job and recently retired. Problem is he asks lot of questions to which I don't have answers most of the time . This is one reason I talk less to him. He thinks I'm too soft in my career and should try and do more which brings conflict at times..... 1 Quote
shaktimaan Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 My father was never there for us and was in his own world all the time. I understand that as I’m a grown up now but the struggles we’ve seen will never make me like him. I never had a good relationship with him and just do my duty as a son, that’s it. No emotions and nothing 2 Quote

Konebhar6 Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 Every parent is different. My parents esp dad let me take every decision since childhood. I am grateful to him. I connect well with both parents but emotionally more with mom. I have taken the mantle from my parents long back. I only share good things with them now, just to make sure I don’t bother them. @*Prince Charming Dads are wired to not show emotional weakness and be strong for kids. As age catches up, they tend to get a little soft. There is no right approach. JUST TALK. start small talk. Casual topics, his fav topics. Once in a while add serious topic. Quote
KathiRamdaas Posted April 2 Report Posted April 2 I don't talk to my dad because of my rough childhood and as a son I am doing my duty by taking care of them but no love, no personal talks or anything. Quote

In your idle time, imagine a scenario in your head and how you could have replied to him without your ego hurt or hurting him. Do this often and one day you will do this in real time Quote
