MAGA folks want jobs that pay well without working hard and studying hard like in their Grand Parents time.

Those days US industry had little competition.

Industry & Talent in EU was decimated largely or relocated to North America due to 2nd world war .

Most of the countries in Asia and Africa were  still under colonial rule ( and hence lacked local industry and  educated people).

Now they have a lot of competition from EU, Asia and even Africa in some cases.

But they still hope to get high paying manufacturing jobs even though many manufacturing jobs have been eliminated over the years due to automation and now because of AI

This is a going to be a disaster.

Imagine a pencil that would cost 25 cents when made in India or china .

If the same was made in US , lets say it costs 75 cents. Let's say US puts tariffs on the pencil from India and China upto 300 percent to make it $1.00 to import. This will bring pencil manufacturing to USA and will create jobs.

No one in the world will buy that pencil at that price of 75 cents except in US due to tariffs .

Innovation is the only way US can bring prosperity. Not with tariffs. But majority of MAGA crowd don't have enough intellectual ability to understand all this . They don't want to work hard or study hard. But they want high paying jobs with protectionism. May work for sometime in a few industries but in the long run it's going to be bad for the country
