That means exactly what it sounds. Integrate into American mainstream life. The problem is it's not easy for Immigrants who moved to US as Adults, especially when you're from India. 

Those that moved to US in their teens and early 20s have a better chance of integration.

People who  come to US for UnderGraduate studies integrate easily into American mainstream life rather than people who come here for masters or on a work visa

nenu food service industry lo pani chesa anna...experience toh cheptunna, always be very careful and very polite with the people handling your food...they can do a lot of nasty things if you piss them off...saying please and thank you are very basic stuff..
