Tejams apply for S-Visa

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share my experience that might help someone in the future.

I was a primary witness in a homicide case in the state of Alabama. I provided all the necessary information to law enforcement during their investigation. About three years later, when the case went to trial, I was living in Texas and received a call from the Alabama State Attorney. They asked me to come in person to give my statement in court. They also reimbursed my travel expenses.

I first met the attorney at their office and later gave my statement in court in front of everyone. The accused was given capital punishment and the case was closed.

Two years after the trial, I came to know about the S-Visa category, which is available to individuals who help law enforcement in solving criminal cases and can eventually lead to a green card. I contacted the attorney and requested the law enforcement team to sign the required S-Visa documents. Unfortunately, they declined, saying the case was already closed and they couldn’t sign it anymore.

The attorney said they couldn’t do anything because the S-Visa process is entirely dependent on law enforcement. If I had known and applied at the time of the case, I might have qualified—also, you must be in legal immigration status to apply.

Just wanted to share this so others don’t miss out on such an opportunity if they are ever in a similar situation.

All tejams pls provide witness to incidents that didnt happen for GC. Deenni kuda scam chesi paada dobbandi 🤣
