I want to invest in India moving funds from US and then bring them back after say 5 years

how easy is it? is there any source I can get the full info on it?

Say if I invest 30L and make a 20L profit after 5 years...i am trying to understand the tax implication will be and what will be final return after taxes

Waste of time. If you invest in land your white becomes black and can’t get it back.

if you invest in white returns not great or -Ve returns with rupee depreciation.

if you are sending to India dont think of bringing them back. Send only the money that you intend to leave them for ever.

If you want to do it in a straight white way, trust me all that gains that you make in India on your principle amount will be lost in taxes, charges, conversion, fees etc. and just in case if $ appreciates by another 10-15% in the next 5 years, you are not going to make any profit realistically.

Never think that way, only send that you never want them back here.

Going forward its going to be tough bringing them back, India is changing way faster than we think. You will end up in loosing a portion for sure!

If any money i want to keep as liquid savings in india, i'm keeping in NRE only not even in NRO.

There are few legal ways to bring money back to the US. Motham 100% oke attempt lo kakunda smaller amounts ni split chesi transfer chesukovachu and there are quite a few such 100% legal ways. By doing so, you won’t pay a single penny on charges, taxes and fees.

Kondaru money and ethics ki link petukuntaru…such model is not suitable for them.

You can transfer back from NRE. that wont be the issue bro. You cannot get profit/original to NRE directly. That requires approvals and limits are there. You can only get those amounts in to NRO. Converting large sum in to NRE is a hiccup.

India to india transfers --> NRO

Remittance --> NRE and we can directly move NRE funds back here.

NRE to here many banks tie up unnai. ICICI HDFC etc wire transfer

But once you move funds from NRE to NRO for investing, its not as straightforward to move back from NRO to NRE-- ee step gurinchi nenu cheppedi

Just checked ICICI says one Million per financial year. NRE to USA.

It is an ideal situation but you also need to consider dynamic situation. Oka 10-15% $ appreciate avuthe niku migile a 20-25% lo kuda sagam egiripotadi…apudu migiledi meagre amount and a amount kosam intha katha nadipiyadam waste kada…time and resources waste and ave money ikada petukunte you probably get a bit more.

But then again, indaka seppina kada…there are other ways to bring money in smaller fractions where you can bring without much taxes and charges.
