In the wake of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, it is heard that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry decided not to release the Hindi film Abir Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor, in lead roles.

The film is originally slated for a worldwide release on May 9. However, many people demanded a ban on it in India due to Fawad’s involvement in the movie. These demands arose after the deadly terror attack that happened at Pahalgam, which resulted in the killing of more than 27 tourists.

After the incident, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced a comprehensive ban on Pakistani artists. In a statement, the federation also stated that it would take all necessary steps to ban Abir Gulaal’s release in India.

Now, it is being heard that the I&B Ministry will take the call and ban the film from releasing in India. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.

On April 20, both Vaani Kapoor and Fawad Khan participated in a promotional event for this movie in Dubai. They faced backlash for promotions, which also coincided with the terrorist attack.

After the terrorist attack, Vaani Kapoor took to social media to write, “I have been numb, at a loss for words since the time I saw the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families.”

On the other side, Fawad Khan penned, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident, and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time.”

Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, Abir Gulaal features Soni Razdan and Ridhi Dogra in other key roles.
