Its usually bit cheaper to stay in Canmore. But Banff has good places too depending on your budget. Those that tried Moose Hotels N Suites, told me it's really good. https://moosehotelandsuites.com/

I don’t think good idea to go with parents, requires lot and lots of walking to see nature beauty in banf / jasper.  Just drive then you will miss lot.
