Get the Facts: Is May 7 my last day to get a REAL ID? What happens if I don't get one?
 
What alternatives are there?
A passport is the primary accepted alternative if you don't have a REAL ID.
In short, having a REAL ID or any other type of identification doesn't protect you from ICE actions. The primary focus during ICE encounters is on immigration status and whether someone has violated immigration laws. It's crucial to understand and exercise your rights during any encounter with ICE.
