-> Absolutely yes. It's also an opportunity to take down knowns targets.

Is it effective in the long run?

-> Most likely no. It's just to pacify and satisfy the indian public and for optics.

What next ?
-> Pakistan will do a bit of retaliation and things will go back to status quo eventually.

Why?

-> Neither countries want War. Some say India can destroy Pak in no time... no, in modern wars there is no winner. Both are losers.

Is it ?

-> Just look at all the conflicts. in the last 50 years. Name one winner. Russia most recently thought the same about Ukraine. Look what happened.

What is most effective?

-> Counter terrorism , long term covert operations. Gain public support and improve economy (despite the setbacks)

Why they don't do it?

-> Politically no gain.

in my case, just questioning here and there. Too many boot lickers are making this db boring. Hence I’m trying to play a role of a critic.

Suspension of water treaty is the bigger attack long term. Very good move.

Escalating even more isn't the right move.

Pakistan is even more weak now.

Balochistan rebels also got stronger in the interim.

I think it's opposite. This entire episode is a theatre created to get back POK. Indian Govt. has been vocal about it for quite sometime now. This is straight from Nethanyahu's  and Putin's play book. The former did it with Hamas (funded them, they attacked Israel and Israel is in the process for capturing Gaza) and latter did that in Chechanya to consolidate power in Russia. Russia swiftly took away territory in Ukraine too.

1. Modi gains immense public opinion and secures next term and likely two terms. Whether he remains for two terms is a different story. All policy failures get buried.

2. He will be hailed as next SARDAR VALLABHAI PATEL due to taking back POK.

3. US benefits tremendously from arms sales with millions of $$ going into kick backs. Some of that goes to Pakistani Military and political elite.  Tatah can show this as victory for American arms and claims he got peace.

4. India will have to support Israel for annexing Gaza.

There are no real losers here.
