Qatar to donate a jumbo jet for Trump's exclusive use as a presidential plane, sources say

Washington — The royal family of Qatar is donating a jumbo jet for President Trump's exclusive use as a presidential plane, sources told CBS News. 

ABC News first reported the gift, which comes as Mr. Trump heads to Qatar as part of his first international trip of his second term. 

But the plane, a 747-8, won't be ready to serve as Air Force One quite yet, and Mr. Trump won't be using it to fly back to the U.S. from the Middle East. The plane needs to be checked for security and spying devices before it is accepted, one of the sources told CBS News.

Qatar became world’s energy exporter,  Qatar’s Natural Gas resources became vital for Europe as well after they reduced their exposure to Russia.

The catch is that Trump can keep it to himself after his term is over, as this is a gift to him. This won’t be a govt property for the next presidents to use

I work for a Government agency as a Contractor. Every year Christmas time we receive emails Not to GIFT more than $50 to the FT employees (just in case it at all any gifting happens) . Shouldn't this apply to all government employees including Trump?

why should US accept a gift? If US wants they can buy 10 such flights. What if there is some spyware in the flight? What if by giving the flight the Qatari government was expecting some favor?

There is a loophole where donations to the presidential library can be made by the foreign governments.. they kind of keep it for display in the presidential library after they retire.. they don’t use it per say.. but airplane ni ela handle chestharo chudaali..

it is very common for visiting leaders or host leaders to give gifts… but gifts at this level and price is unprecedented… any other leader would have rejected such a gift but we are in new territory with Trump..
